That Alyssa. On the surface, Alyssa is a girl whose family is about to be taken away from her. She's a girl who has until midnight to stop that strange demonic visitor from taking her happy life away from her.
Alyssa is a mystery/puzzle game created by Berri on RPG Maker VX Ace. It was created for the 2014 Indie Game Contest.
Synopsis[]
Alyssa lives happily with her family in a large mansion. But on her 13th birthday, a demon appears and gives Alyssa a strange warning: "You have until midnight to change your parents' minds, or they will erase you once and for all."
Game Features[]
The player moves a character through two-dimensional fields, interacting with and examining various objects. The game can be saved by interacting with a family portrait, which also restores health.
The game is mostly a survival horror, avoiding demons while trying to investigate. It also has an affection gauge, which might change the ending.
Characters[]
- Alyssa: A twelve-year old little girl that loves reading and gardening. She'll do anything to protect her parents, although she's selfish and there's something off about her.
- William: The family's butler. He's very loyal and protective of Alyssa.
- Eleana: The family's maid. She's somehow distant to Alyssa and treats her like a stranger.
- Alyssa's Parents: Alyssa's father and mother. They get kidnapped by a demon at the start of the game and it's up for Alyssa to save them.
Endings[]
Ending 1: Faceless[]
This ending is obtained if the demon caught Alyssa during the garden chase.
Ending 2: Sacred Justice[]
This ending is obtained if Alyssa read the letter on the floor.
It's revealed Eleana was behind the demons attacking the mansion. Turns out the real Alyssa died long ago and a demon possessed her corpse. The parents and William played along by acting like Alyssa was still alive, but Eleana didn't like how some demon was pretending to be her dead master. She then kills the fake Alyssa, mockingly stating that nobody cares about her.
Ending 3: Unloved[]
The fake Alyssa is killed
This ending is obtained if Alyssa's affection score is low.
After saving her parents, Alyssa encounters a red-eyed version of herself, revealed to be the real one. When she died, her grieving parents made a contract with a demon, who proceeded to possess Alyssa's corpse. However they realized that their daughter couldn't be replaced and together with Eleana and William, they decided to get rid of the demon.
The fake Alyssa insists that despite being a fake, her parents still love her. She runs towards them, only for them to shoot her in the face.
Ending 4: A Loving Family[]
Eleana is killed and replaced
This ending is obtained if Alyssa's affection score is high.
It goes the same as Ending 3, except that the parents stop Alyssa from killing the fake one. They apologize to their daughter for not mourning her and replacing with a demon, but they also admit they came to care about the fake one. Unfortunately the demon needs a body in order to stay in the living world and the parents make clear that they don't want to pretend their daughter is still alive.
Just as they're wondering what to do, Eleana arrives. The parents tell the fake Alyssa that Eleana is an orphan and nobody would care what happens to her if she were gone. They give her permission to kill the maid and possess her corpse, much to Eleana's horror.
Trivia[]
The cancelled remake
- The game had a bug that kept Alyssa's stuck in the cellar and she couldn't encounter the red-eyed Alyssa. A patch featuring all endings was released later.
- The author had plans to release a remake with improved graphics, but it was eventually cancelled.
