Amatoria is a RPG Maker horror game created by Adrián Zamora.
It has a sequel, Amatoria: Tormented, which happens four years later.
Synopsis[]
Valentine's Day is coming and Luisa isn't too happy about it. Until she receives a phone call from her best friend, Beatriz. She has set up a date for her and her brother Hector in the Amatoria motel.
Luisa is excited about spending the night with the boy she loves....only to find out Hector is gone and someone locked her up in the motel. Who locked her up? Where is Hector? What's going on?
Game Features[]
The player moves a character through two-dimensional fields, interacting with and examining various objects. A heart-shaped blood splatter can be seen at various places in the motel, serving as a save point.
The gameplay consists in searching and finding for keys to open the motel rooms. The only way to get the True Ending is to obtain a certain item.
Characters[]
Luisa[]
A hopelessly romantic girl. She's in love with Hector and is best friends with his sister Beatriz. However she's too insecure to confess her feelings for him. She's simple-minded and often a little bit too quick to jump to conclusions.
As the game progresses, it's shown she's mentally unstable and is willing to hurt anyone that dares to come between her and Hector, who doesn't even reciprocate her feelings.
Beatriz[]
Luisa's best friend since childhood. A quiet, soft-spoken girl who has many friends, despite not truly opening to anyone. Beatriz is gloomy and rather secretive, but she's very reliable and tries to keep the more airheaded Luisa in check.
She knows that Luisa likes Hector and wants them to be together, sometimes even being pushy about it. As the game progresses, Luisa will find out a disturbing secret about her and why she's so secretive about her family life.
Hector[]
Beatriz's mysterious older brother and Luisa's love interest. Despite being quiet, he seems to be very popular with girls, although he's not interested. His sister doesn't like him much, but he acts very protective and territorial towards her.
Luisa is attracted to him for how aloof he is, but as she wanders in the motel, she finds out that her love isn't the perfect guy she thinks. Also his attachment towards Beatriz might be more twisted than it seems.
Teresa[]
The owner of the Amatoria motel and Beatriz and Hector's mother. According to Luisa, she's perpetually smiling and always has her face caked in makeup. Teresa is divorced from her husband and seems to care more about Hector than Beatriz.
She seems like a friendly and easy-going woman, but as the game progresses, it's revealed she has zero qualms with murdering people to get what she wants, even her own family.
Endings[]
Normal Ending: Revenge[]
Hector kills Luisa
As Luisa wanders in the motel, she finds out photographs of Beatriz and Hector, which start getting more and more explicit. After finding out they're in an incestuous relationship, Luisa goes crazy with jealousy and confronts Beatriz in her room. Realizing that she recently had sex with Hector, Luisa kills Beatriz without listening to her explanations. She then happily goes to Hector's room to announce that his sister is dead and they can be together now.
Hector loses his mind and brutally kills Luisa by gouging her eyes out, loudly proclaiming his love for Beatriz. Hours later, he is raped by his mother Teresa, who is happy that "everything went according to plan". A resigned Hector muses that he hates Valentine's Day.
True Ending: Protector[]
Luisa confronts Teresa
If Luisa obtains Teresa's diary, she finds out that she's been sexually abusing Hector since he was young, as she's in love with her son. In his despair, Hector developed one-sided feelings for Beatriz and has been raping her for years and murdering all her boyfriends out of jealousy. Knowing that Beatriz had arranged a date for Luisa and Hector in the motel, Teresa locked the rooms and planted explicit photos about her children, hoping that Luisa will kill Beatriz in jealousy and Hector will kill Luisa upon finding out, all so Teresa could have him all to herself.
Luisa is disgusted by this and decides her friendship with Beatriz is more important than Hector. She kills Teresa and rapes Hector, before killing him as well in retribution for all those years he abused his sister. In the end, Luisa is reunited with Beatriz, and while at first she can't believe her mother was willing to kill her, she forgives Luisa and confesses her feelings for her.
