Amatoria: Tormented is a RPG Maker horror game created by Adrián Zamora and sequel to Amatoria. The game was released in Spanish, but the links have been lost to time. However, there are still gameplays about it on Youtube.
Synopsis[]
Adrian's sorrows started four years ago, when he distanced from his friends. Since then, he's isolated from society. However, days before his birthday, he receives a call from an old friend that will change everything.
Happy to see his old friends again, he organizes a party in the now abandoned Amatoria motel. Suddenly things will start getting bizarre as they get separated and discover secrets about the motel. They will also face their true fears, manifestated as horrible monsters.
Game Features[]
The player moves a character through two-dimensional fields, interacting with and examining various objects. A heart-shaped blood splatter can be seen at various places, serving as a save point.
The gameplay consists of investigating through objects in order to find out more about the story of the motel. There's also a combat system against the monsters that lurk in the motel.
Characters[]
Adrian[]
A shy and bookish boy who's a social recluse after distancing from his friends years ago. He misses them dearly and wants to see them again and he gets the oportunity after reconnecting with Camilo. His birthday is on Halloween and he invites Camilo, Desiree and Diego for a party in the abandoned Amatoria motel.
Camilo[]
The protagonist of the game. An energetic and outgoing young man, whose girlfriend left him months ago. In order to cheer up, he decides to reconnect with some of his old friends, setting the events of the game.
Near the end, it's revealed he was one of Beatriz's ex-boyfriends (she broke up with him after hooking with Luisa at the end of the prequel game) and indirectly the reason why they're trapped in the motel.
Desiree[]
The only girl of Adrian's group, nicknamed Desi. She's cheerful and likes the occult. She's the one who's more interested about the history of the abandoned motel.
Diego[]
Another of Adrian's friends (although Adrian secretly considers him an outsider because he joined the gang much later). He's very carefree and easygoing and likes pranking his friends. He dies after a projectile blows half of his face when he was searching for the power source of the motel.
The Motel Monsters[]
Monstruous creatures that lurk in the motel. Camilo, Adrian and Desiree have to fight them if they want to keep going wandering the place. Their names are revealed in the Bonus Room.
- Aractentationem: A bunch of humanoid creatures that look like limbs with vulvas in the face and crotch. They're dangerous when they come in numbers only. They represent Hector's lust and guilt towards his incestuous feelings for Beatriz.
- Punisher: Looks like a faceless version of Teresa. She's not very fast and attacks with a wet towel. It represents Hector's childhood trauma towards his rapist mother.
- Phallus: A giant phallic figure that Camilo encounters in one of the motel rooms. While it can't move, its attacks are fast and it spits blood. It represents Beatriz's trauma towards Hector's sexual abuse.
- Gemini: A pair of twins with swollen and rotten flesh that Desiree encounters in the bathroom. They attack with dirty water and resemble Hector and Beatriz in their childhood.
- Repulsion: An advanced version of Punisher. She has swift attacks and hair covers her entire body.
- Hector: After being murdered by Luisa in the prequel game, he became a vengeful ghost. He has an irrational hatred towards Camilo and wants to kill him and make him suffer.
Endings[]
Normal Ending: Abandoned[]
If Camilo confronts Adrian, the latter reveals he's possessed by Hector, who has a grudge against Camilo. Hector had one-sided feelings for his sister Beatriz and killed all her boyfriends, except for the last one...Camilo himself. His resentment made him a vengeful ghost and he possessed Adrian in order to kill Camilo once and for all. He and the possessed Adrian have a knife fight in which the latter dies.
Desiree arrives and finds that Camilo killed Adrian in self-defense. The two surviving friends embrace and leave the motel together. They believe Adrian died in peace, as his corpse was smiling.
True Ending: Promise[]
If Camilo checks the photo album before confronting Adrian, he remembers their friendship and is able to talk down Adrian from trapping them in the motel. The three friends embrace and in doing so, Hector's ghost is expelled from Adrian's body. Hector tries to kill Camilo, but Adrian steps in to protect his friend. The two have a fight in which Adrian destroys Hector's spirit.
Adrian faints and when he wakes up, he sees Desiree and Camilo kissing him. They say they'll be together from now on and leave the motel together.
Trivia[]
- The story happens eight months after the events of Amatoria.
- Apparently the scissor stab Luisa gave to Hector in the True Ending of the prequel game failed to kill him. Instead he survived and he was left to die a long and agonizing death by starvation while chained to the bed.
- Luisa and Beatriz don't appear, as they ran away from the city after the former killed Hector and Teresa.
