Legends of Astravia is a RPG Maker game created by Studio Alemni. Its key aspects are an explorable overworld with Zelda-like dungeons and a dynamic battle system with fluid turns.

Introduction[]

Legends of Astravia is a retro-style 2D RPG where you journey across Astravia as the wandering mystician Oliver and meet new companions, uncover secrets better left unknown, and stop a villainous trio’s plot to steal the powerful Astri and cause world destruction.

It is influenced by 90s and early 2000s-era JRPGs like Golden Sun and Grandia, featuring a dynamic battle system and a world rich with exploration and puzzles.

Development[]

Legends of Astravia was originally created by Jaiden as an entry for the Indie Game Making Contest in 2017.

On February 14th, 2022 an updated demo was released on Steam. It was updated to be widescreen 720p resolution and had an updated story and mechanics. In 2023 the demo was taken down to be reworked further.

It was decided the game would release in two parts, which give two full stories that connect to make the overarching narrative.

Graphics Overhaul[]

In November 2022, Studio Alemni announced that the game would feature more personalized character artwork and 16-bit pixel art graphics.

Story[]

Oliver is a mystician—those in Astravia who are gifted with a natural talent to cast magic. He wakes up in Mordin Forest with nothing but his shirt and circlet, at a loss as to how he ended up there. To make matters worse, the corrupt knights of the area seem all but welcoming towards mysticians like him.

After being rescued by the swordsman Baldric, he takes refuge along the outskirts of Mordin Village. There, he has a fated meeting with the enigmatic Azel which leads him on a journey to seek the truth about his past...all while the “Astri Hunters” plan to reawaken the Great Cataclysm for their own gain.

Oliver and his companions must stop the villainous trio’s plot to steal the powerful Astri and cause world destruction...for the fate of Astravia.
