Misao Awards

The mark used for the Misao Awards.

The Misao Awards are an annual award event given to indie games made in the RPG Maker community presented by RPGMaker.net. The event usually starts around the time of December. The Misao Awards are comparable to the Oscars and Academy Awards shows presented for movies. 'Misaos' is the general name for the awards such as 'Best Atmosphere', 'Most Technical Prowess' or 'Game of the Year'. You can liken it to a "People's Choice" award, as the games are nominated and voted upon by the community-at-large.

In its early years, Misaos were organized and run by users at #rm2k on irc.dynastynet.net and hosted on The Queen's Court website.

The Misao Awards event is named after the character Makimachi Misao from the anime series Rurouni Kenshin. iishenron (a.k.a. FinalDragon) named the event after one of his favorite anime series.
