Turtle Head: Unmasked is a remake of the Turtle Head game, created by Team Meatpie, Despite being a fanwork, it counts with the approval of Pikasprey, the creator of the original game.

Synopsis[]

Rumors have been making their way around a local high school. Some claim to see figures and hear unusual sounds in the late hours of the night when nobody is expected to be there. This intrigued a small friend group, leading them to sneak into the building and investigate. Alas, they might have found what they were looking for.

You play as Harriet, a junior student at the high school. Through her, you will discover the horrific events that unfolded in the local community. The game is intended for players to go into mostly blind, so most of the plot details will have to be discovered on your own.

The player moves a character through two-dimensional fields, interacting with and examining various objects. A stuffed turtle doll can be seen at various places in the school, serving as a save point.

The gameplay consists of running away from Turtle Head and find places to hide from him. Harriet can interact with Emma in a classroom downstairs to get hints on how to progress. In Emma's Story, this role is switched with Mason instead.

Characters[]

Harriet Lily[]

Harriet E1.png

A quiet girl of few words who's friends with Emma and Mason. She likes drawing and is part of the art club, where her cousin Marina used to teach. As the game progresses, it's revealed she's very depressed over the death of her cousin Marina, who mysteriously disappeared on her birthday. Harriet was so traumatized that she tried to kill herself by drowning herself in the school pool. Because Turtle Head wasn't able to get Marina, he wishes to pursue his romantic feelings for her through Harriet.

Harriet is in love with Emma and once asked her to go to a dance together, but Emma stood her up in order to search for Bigfoot with her friends. Because of this Harriet secretly resents her for not noticing her feelings.

Emma Hawkins[]

Emma E2.png

Harriet's best friend, an energetic girl who likes the occult. She's the one who had the idea to visit the school at night to investigate the strange figure that wanders the place, as well as investigate the letter Harriet found in her locker. After Mason is seemingly killed by Turtle Head and Harriet is forced to escape, Emma hides in a room and gives hints to Harriet on how to progress.

She's the protagonist of the Emma's Story route, which features her as the protagonist. It's revealed she suffers from self hatred and depression and often hears voices in her head. Also, despite being friends, Harriet resents her after Emma stood her for a dance. Emma was oblivious to Harriet's feelings for her, but will reconsider what she truly feels for her friend.

Mason Camdenburg[]

Mason E8.png

The only male of the group, he's a mature and no-nonsense guy who often calls out Emma on her antics. Despite this, she and Harriet look up to him as a big brother figure. He's the first to be killed by Turtle Head, forcing the girls to go into hiding at the school.

It's revealed he's actually alive and he's not who he claims to be. In truth he's a 27-year-old police officer who posed as a student in order to investigate the murders of Marina and Blair. In Emma's Story, with Harriet in danger, he's the one who gives Emma hints of how to progress. He shows a lot of sympathy for the young girls and tries his hardest to protect them.

Believing that he was entitled to have her, Simon started stalking her; culminating with him kidnapping two students from her class, Kay and Blair (who happen to be Emma's friends). Since Blair was rebellious and caused trouble for Marina, Simon killed the girl to impress her, but Marina was disgusted instead. Simon snapped and killed her. However, this failed to give him any satisfaction and he decided to target Harriet too. In order to mess with her, he wore the head of the stuffed turtle toy Marina was planning to give Harriet.
